TONY®-Nominees PASEK & PAUL introducing „Dogfight“
One-off concert on the 27.05.2013 in the „Stage Club“ • Featuring guest stars Drew Sarich, Wietske van Tongeren, Silke Braas, Melanie Ortner & Kristina Love.
Pasek & Paul – Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are 2 young dynamic American songwriters anticipated to have a very long and bright future in the musical scene on Broadway. Since graduating from the University of Michigan in 2006 they have been recognized with countless awards and nominations including most recently 3 Tony nominations for their Broadway musical “A Christmas Story”.
A couple of weeks before the 2013 TONY-Awards® in the New Yorker Radio City Musical Hall the composers flew to Hamburg to present a European exclusive one-off concert in Hamburg of their latest Off Broadway musical “Dogfight” with the support of Hamburg musical stars Drew Sarich, Wietske van Tongeren, Melanie Ortner, Silke Braas and Kristina Love.
“Pasek & Paul are the new storytellers of Broadway” raved Drew Sarich who plays the title role of ROCKY. “It was so great to sing something really fresh and new. I was so proud to be able to sing their songs for and with them”.
“I will never forget this evening” said Wietske van Tongeren after the concert. „What you two create with RE: PRESENT is wonderful and it gives us performers an extra kick and passion for our job.I am so grateful, moved and proud. It was lovely to see how we all came and enjoyed the evening together”.
Silke Braas added “I want to let you know how wonderful the day was and I thank you that I could be a part of this concert. You are both super organizers and have a nose for talent. Both of the guys are really amazing artists and it was inspiring to work with them. I hope that you both with RE: PRESENT can continue to create exciting new projects”.
Simone Linhof and Ralf Schaedler were also elated with the concert - “Pasek & Paul are amazing and exciting composers, confirmed by their recent Tony nomination. It shows we were on the right track when we originally invited them back in 2011. We were thrilled that we could invite the two artists to Hamburg again and in particular to be able to experience such a special and intimate evening concert with them at the Stage Club. The Club was full, the atmosphere was electric and the program together with our guest stars and students from the Academy was fantastic. We are so proud that we were able to create and share such a magical theatrical evening.
