Scott Alan is the shooting star of New Yorks musical theater scene. Willemijn Verkaik had the idea to get Scott over to Germany quite some time ago. The two Icons of our Genre have known each other - so far only via internet. Scott had heard about the new Diva all the way in New York. Internationally - composers, writers and performers are fascinated by her work – how Willemijn overwhelmes the German audiences with her incredible voice. Her interpretation of the Role Elphaba in the German Stage Entertainment production of ’Wicked`turned her into an international musical theater Star. Scott contacted Willemijn, they mailed each other for quite some time, even rehearsed via video conference and finally – Scott hired her to be part of his new album. On ‘What I want to be when I grow up’ (Fall 2010) Willemijn performs ‘Watch Me Soar’ (www.scottalan.net).
The virtual friendship becomes now a reality – made reality by RE:PRESENT. The two stars of musical theater meet for the first time - in real life - in Hamburg - on the 20th June 2011.
It is Scott Alans first time ever in Germany. On Friday (17.06.) he teaches a closed professional masterclass. On Saturday (18.06.) he will focus on the musical theater studends (information and application for workshop and masterclass: workshop@represent.de ). It is gonna be a thrill to see the extraordinary writer and musician work with performers one on one giving them his passion and inspiration through his work.
On Monday, 20th of June ( 8 pm): ‘An Evening With Scott & Willemijn '- featuring Scott Alan and Willemijn Verkaik at the ‘Hamburger Kammerspiele’: The two artists perform songs written by Scott Alan Special guests on this evening: Volkan Baydar, lead singer of the successful Band ‘Blue Orange’ (‘She's Got That Light’), Konstantin Rethwisch (Stanfour - ‘Wishing You Well’) and Serkan Kaya (Udo Lindenberg ‘Hinterm Horizont’).
